DuoPet Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and your control over your data. This Privacy Policy explains how DuoPet Universe (the “App”) accesses, uses, stores, shares, and deletes data you provide or generate while using the App.

The App follows a local-first design. Core care and life-record data is generally stored on your device. Cloud features are used only when you choose to use or enable them for clearly identified purposes such as backup, restore, or multi-device sync. You do not need to create a DuoPet Studio account to use the App’s core features.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the App, official support pages directly related to the App, and backup, sync, notification, advertising, and purchase features integrated by DuoPet Studio.

Third-party platforms and services, including Apple, Google, Google Drive, and Google AdMob, process data under their own terms and privacy policies. This Policy does not replace those third-party policies.

2. Data We May Process

2.1 Care and Life Records You Create

Depending on the worlds and features you use, this may include:

  • aquarium, enclosure, pet, animal, equipment, and consumable information;
  • water quality, temperature, humidity, weight, growth, feeding, maintenance, care, and health-observation records;
  • events, general reminders, schedules, and completion records;
  • notes, tags, and other content you enter.

This data is used primarily to provide record-keeping, reminders, statistics, trends, backup, restore, and sync features. When cloud features are not enabled, core records generally remain on your device.

2.2 Photos and Media

When you choose to add photos or media, the App accesses only the content permitted by your authorization and uses it for the relevant pet, animal, aquarium, growth, or record feature.

Granting photo access does not cause the App to upload photos you did not select. Media may be transferred to a third-party cloud service only when you intentionally use a backup, restore, or sync feature that includes that media.

2.3 Device and App Settings

To provide normal functionality, the App may store necessary technical or preference information, such as:

  • language and display preferences;
  • notification permission state and local scheduling information;
  • onboarding, screen layout, and seen/dismissed presentation states;
  • technical metadata required for backup, restore, sync, transaction recovery, and data versioning;
  • App version, platform, and necessary error-state information.

2.4 Google Account and Authorization Information

When you choose to use Google Drive or Google sign-in related features, Google may provide the App with account identifiers or authorization information necessary to complete that authorization, such as your name, email address, Google user identifier, authorization state, or access token.

This information is used only to establish and maintain the Google Drive connection you requested, determine authorization status, and perform backup, restore, or sync. It does not create a DuoPet Studio account.

2.5 Purchase and Advertising Data

Apple App Store, Google Play, Google AdMob, or their related SDKs may process transaction identifiers, product identifiers, subscription status, device or advertising identifiers, ad interaction data, or fraud-prevention information as needed for their services.

DuoPet Studio does not receive your full credit or debit card number.

3. Google Drive and Google User Data

If you connect Google Drive or enable related backup or sync features, the App accesses only app-specific data or files that you have explicitly selected or authorized, within the permissions you grant.

3.1 Access and Use

Google user data is used only for user-facing features that you intentionally use, such as:

  • creating and updating App backups;
  • reading backups to perform a restore;
  • reading or updating sync data when you explicitly enable multi-device sync;
  • maintaining Google Drive authorization and connection state.

3.2 Storage

Cloud backup or sync data is stored in the Google Drive account you use. The App may also retain authorization state, version information, operation records, or other technical metadata on your device as needed to maintain the connection and data consistency.

DuoPet Studio does not currently operate a separate server-side cloud database containing a copy of your care records.

3.3 Sharing and Limited Use

Google user data obtained through Google APIs:

  • is not sold to third parties;
  • is not provided to advertising platforms for personalized advertising, retargeting, or audience building;
  • is not provided to AdMob merely because the App also uses AdMob;
  • is not transferred to third parties or reviewed by DuoPet Studio personnel except as necessary to provide a feature you requested, maintain security, comply with law, or provide support when you explicitly request assistance and voluntarily provide the relevant data.

The App’s use of Google user data is subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy and, where applicable, its Limited Use requirements.

3.4 Revocation and Deletion

You can revoke Google authorization through the App or your Google Account settings. Revoking authorization may make cloud-dependent features unavailable, but it does not automatically delete data safely stored on your device.

You may also manage or delete cloud data created by the App through Google Drive, subject to the visibility and management options provided for the relevant Google Drive storage area.

4. Advertising

The App may use Google AdMob to display ads. Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and Google’s service configuration, Google or its advertising technology partners may process advertising identifiers, device information, ad interaction data, or other information permitted by law for ad delivery, frequency control, measurement, and fraud prevention.

Where required by law or platform rules, the App uses applicable consent or privacy-choice mechanisms for advertising-related processing. You may also adjust relevant privacy, tracking, or advertising choices through your device or platform settings.

DuoPet Studio does not sell care records you create in the App or Google Drive content to advertisers or use that content to build advertising audiences.

5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

In-app purchases, subscriptions, payments, and refunds are primarily processed by Apple App Store or Google Play.

DuoPet Studio does not receive your full credit or debit card number. To confirm entitlements, restore purchases, and provide support, the App or platform may provide necessary transaction identifiers, product identifiers, purchase status, or subscription status.

Payment and transaction data is also subject to Apple’s or Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App may schedule notifications on your device based on reminders, events, or care schedules you create in the different worlds.

You can change or disable notification permissions in your device settings at any time. Disabling notifications does not delete your App records or reminders, but system notifications may no longer appear.

7. How We Use Data

To the extent needed to provide and maintain the App, data may be used to:

  • display, create, modify, and manage your records;
  • calculate trends, statistics, and schedules;
  • provide reminders and notifications;
  • perform imports, exports, backups, restores, or sync that you request;
  • validate in-app purchases and entitlements;
  • provide support, debugging, security maintenance, and data recovery;
  • prevent duplicate writes, abuse, or data corruption.

DuoPet Studio does not sell the care records you create to third parties.

8. Sharing and Third-Party Services

The App may integrate with:

  • Apple App Store / StoreKit;
  • Google Play / Google Play Billing;
  • Google Drive / Google sign-in;
  • Google AdMob;
  • operating-system notification, photo, and file-picker services.

Data is processed by the relevant third party only as needed to provide the corresponding feature, maintain security, comply with law, or where you separately consent. Each service is governed by its own privacy practices.

9. Storage and Retention

9.1 Local Data

Core data is primarily stored on your device until you delete it, remove it through available App functions, or uninstall the App. Actual removal may also be affected by operating-system backup and device settings.

9.2 Cloud Backup and Sync Data

If you use Google Drive or another supported cloud feature, backup or sync copies may remain in your third-party cloud account until you delete them through the App, the cloud service, or another applicable method.

9.3 Technical Metadata

The App may retain local technical metadata needed for backup, sync, data safety, transaction recovery, or duplicate-write prevention. Such metadata is kept only for the functional and reasonable recovery period needed and is not maintained as a separate long-term behavioral tracking database.

9.4 Third-Party Retention

Apple, Google, and other third parties may retain certain data as required for legal, transaction, security, fraud-prevention, or service purposes. Their retention periods are governed by their respective policies.

10. Your Data Choices and Deletion

Depending on the feature and where the data is stored, you may:

  • delete individual records, animals, pets, aquariums, or other data;
  • export data or create backups;
  • delete Google Drive backup or sync data under your control;
  • revoke Google Drive or other third-party authorization;
  • disable notifications or adjust advertising/tracking choices;
  • uninstall the App.

The App does not require a DuoPet Studio account, so there is no DuoPet Studio account to delete. Data controlled by Apple, Google, or your Google Drive account must be managed through the applicable platform.

11. Taiwan Personal Data Protection Act Notice

To the extent DuoPet Studio actually collects or processes personal data, the following information is provided for purposes of applicable Taiwan personal data protection law:

  1. Collector: DuoPet Studio.
  2. Purposes: providing App features, Google Drive authorization and backup/sync, purchase-entitlement validation, advertising and fraud prevention, customer support, security maintenance, and legal compliance.
  3. Categories: depending on features used, account/contact identifiers, transaction identifiers and purchase status, content you voluntarily provide or upload, device/advertising identifiers, and necessary technical metadata.
  4. Period of use: for the period necessary to provide the relevant function, maintain authorization, complete transactions, maintain security and recovery, or comply with law. After deletion, revocation, or discontinued use, processing depends on where the data is stored, third-party policies, and legal requirements.
  5. Regions: your device, the third-party cloud services you choose, and regions in which Apple, Google, or other necessary service providers process data through their global infrastructure.
  6. Recipients: DuoPet Studio, Apple/Google or other service providers you choose to use, and parties required by law or reasonably necessary for security.
  7. Methods: electronic, automated, or other methods necessary to provide the purposes above.
  8. Your rights: for personal data actually controlled by DuoPet Studio, you may exercise applicable rights to inquire, access, request a copy, supplement or correct, request cessation of collection/processing/use, or request deletion. Data controlled by third-party platforms must be managed through their procedures.
  9. Effect of not providing data: core local features generally do not require a Google Account, but a specific feature may be unavailable if you do not provide the data or permission required for it—for example, Google Drive features require Google authorization, system notifications require notification permission, and adding media requires the applicable photo/media permission.

12. Children and Minors

The App is a care and life-record tool and is not primarily directed to children. We do not intentionally request children’s personal information that is unrelated to App functionality.

Minors should use the App in accordance with applicable local law and platform rules and obtain parental or guardian consent where required.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, unintended overwrite, or corruption of data, including local-data validation, backup/restore checks, and transaction/recovery mechanisms.

No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. You should keep a verifiable backup of important data where appropriate.

14. International Processing

Apple, Google, or other third-party services may operate servers outside your country or region. When you choose to use those services, data may be processed across borders through their global infrastructure and under applicable law.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy due to changes in features, law, platform rules, or third-party services. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App, official website, or store information where reasonably practicable.

If a future feature uses personal data for a materially different purpose, we will update the relevant disclosures and consent flow as required before using the data for that purpose.

16. Languages

This Policy is provided in Traditional Chinese and English as official versions. If the two versions are inconsistent, the Traditional Chinese version is the primary version for interpretation, without limiting rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
